Layout turned out very different from the Theme demo
-
Hello, I am having a big and confusing problem here.
After I activate this Gateway theme (https://wordpress.com/theme/gateway/oyjnote.wordpress.com), the layout of my website looks very different (https://oyjnote.wordpress.com/). I’m very curious of why this problem occurs and is there anything I could adjust to solve this problem?
Many thanks!

Hi there, have you consulted with the theme’s showcase page at https://wordpress.com/theme/gateway for set up information?
Let us know here if you have specific questions about setting up Gateway once you have read that guide.

Hi,
You can read the detailed setup instructions on how to make your site look like the Gateway theme demo here:
https://wordpress.com/theme/gatewayIncluding:
Use the Homepage template (seen in action on the Gateway demo site) to show off your best work with a bold headline, a call to action button, Featured Content, or a video.
And:
Gateway allows you to feature up to three Posts or Pages, by tagging them, and then entering that tag in the Featured Content area of the Customizer. Any Featured Images assigned to these Posts or Pages will get displayed in the Featured Content area.
If no tag is specified, the Homepage template will display your last three posts, excluding Sticky posts.
Hope this helps :)

Hey @catkiinson thanks a lot for replying! I’m still having problems here. Do you know how I can tag my the pages that I want to be featured?
Hey @justjennifer thanks a lot for replying! I uploaded the logo in the Customizing
Site Identity area, but after successfully uploading, I still don’t see the logo. Is there a chance that you know why? -

Hey @catkiinson Thank you so much for you help! But the layout is said to have 3 post in the featured content area even if no post is tagged, it would show 3 latest posts instead. But my blog somehow doesn’t have the featured content area layout in the beginning once I activate this Gateway theme. Is there a way that I can fix this? Many thanks!

Hello again, if you want your site’s front page to look like the Gateway demo site you need to add a new static Page and apply the theme’s special homepage template.
Have a look at the theme showcase page we’ve linked to earlier, under “Homepage Template.”

Hey @justjennifer Thank you so much for you help. I do have a featured content now, but does the featured photo has a suggested image dimensions? Because my title and excerpt has gone vertical but the featured photos on the demo site are horizontal and the titles and excerpts are layout beneath the featured photo. Is there a way that I can fix this? Many thanks again!
