"Leave a comment" button clevery hidden
-
My readers can’t figure out how to leave comments because the “leave a comment” button is cleverly hidden in my blog. It’s buried among the tags at the bottom of the page. I’ll put aside the obvious question: why ever would the programmers of the Twenty Ten theme think that was a good idea? But does anyone know how I can fix it? Is there a way to move “leave a comment” away from the tags–even onto a lower line–or a way to make it bold or colored or something? It’s too much of a pain to change themes at the moment, so I’m hoping for an easier solution. Is there some easy string of code I could insert if I got the CSS upgrade? (I’m not a programmer, but I can copy and paste with the best of them.)
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi techcontracts,
Do you mean the button isn’t visible at all (hidden), or it’s just hard to see? -
It’s hard to see. It’s included at the end of the list of tags, where no one would ever look. (Not surprisingly, I’ve never gotten a comment, though the blog is new.)
Took me 20 minutes of diligent search to find it myself.

Just to make sure we are looking at the same thing, can you take a screenshot of what you see in your browser for the comment area?
Here’s what I see when logged in, using Safari 5.1 on Mac OS X: http://cl.ly/2r3g3H0M3G411L1Z113T
And when logged out:

Thanks, guys. thesacredpath has it right.
I’ve got a screenshot if that still helps, but I don’t see any way to upload it.
Anyway, if you look at my homepage, whether you’re logged in or not, you’ll see a list of categories and tags at the bottom of each post. (Don’t open the post; just scroll down to the bottom of any post.) After that list of comments and tags comes the words “leave a comment”–very effectively hidden.

OK, I see that now. You’re right that with this theme the link to add a comment from the front page does get lost in the shuffle.
There are some things you can do, besides switching to a different theme that calls it out better or using Custom CSS to change the design of this theme.
One technique to encourage more comments is to not show the entire post on the front page. That way readers will be forced to go to the single post view, where the comment area is immediately after the post, and hard to miss. You can do this with the “more” tag to split the post into two pieces, with only the first showing on the front page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/.
This is a very common technique to drive readers further into your site.
Another way to start a conversation is to publicize your post to other services like Twitter and Facebook. See http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/want-more-traffic-publicize-now-makes-it-easy/.
Here are some more tips for getting traffic, and comments in general:

Lance, that works really well, and I think the more tag is something I should have been using anyway. Thanks.
But I’d still love to solve this problem. Is there a way to change the appearance of the “leave a comment” button through CSS?

There’s always a way to change your site’s appearance — if you don’t mind digging into CSS a bit. :)
Head over to https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization and search around the existing topics, someone’s bound to have already looked for a similar solution. Maybe making it bold, or a different color from the other links.

I had to use Google to find this, but here would be the CSS. I included font-size, font-color and font-weight and you can use all, or one, or mix and match.

@thesacredpath For CSS discussion let’s keep it in that forum, I’m closing this topic now.
