Leaving comments on other blogs without a wordpress.com blog?

I recently deleted our WordPress.com site, because we now have a WordPress.org self-hosted blog. I still have access to my WordPress.com profile from what I can tell, but when I try to leave comments on other people’s blogs, say on blogger, I am being told that my openID could not be found/validated. This makes sense, because it is searching for my wordpress.com blog site that no longer exists, but I’m wondering if there is a way to still use my profile to leave comments on other blogs without needing my wordpress.com site available? I have verified that my WordPress profile does indeed have my new self-hosted wordpress domaine name listed as the site that those viewing my comments will be directed to if they wish. Any ideas or advice would be very much appreciated, because I do not want to be hindered from leaving comments simply because I deleted a blog site I am no longer using.
