Leaving the nightmare that is Squarespace for WordPress.

    Hi everyone,

I’ve had a squarespace site for many years now. This last year there have been so many outages and problems I am looking to move. I currently have a ticket open for incredible slow ‘Android’ only mobile page loading that has been ‘escalated’ for 3 days. Still no fix!

I would like to know how you all find wordpress.com support and the level of outages/problems you see.

Is it possible for me to create a wordpress site, get it up and running / looking like I want and then changing my domain to point to WordPress? I can’t really afford having my site ‘in maintenance’ while I set it up?

    Many thanks for your views/answers.

    Mark

    Hey Mark!

You can get WordPress.com support and help here in the forums or the Support documentation linked below:
    https://wordpress.com/support/

If you are on the upgraded plan, you can reach the support directly via Email and Live Chat.

All sites on WordPress.com get a free WordPress.com or .blog subdomain when the site is created, that functions just like any regular subdomain, and your site is fully online and accessible at that subdomain (provided you set it to Public).

So you can experiment and build your site at that free address, import your existing content from Squarespace, and even upgrade the site while still using the free address. Then you can switch the domain over here only once you’re ready to take the existing site offline.
