leaving wordpress.com to go to go daddy who is hosting the blog on wordpress.org
-
I need to find out how to export my wordpress.com site though mysql to then upload to wordpress.org which is being hosted by godaddy.com. I had to use FILEZILLA because the database was over 6mbs (the blog on .com has been around for 3.5 years). How can I break up the files when importing to wordpress.org without losing anything? Lastly if you can answer these questions for me – will I still have to buy the Site Redirect so I can point all my traffic to my hosted blog on go daddy?
I want to transfer my blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org and get rid of the wordpress.com site – I’d also like to buy the site direct and point that towards the new wordpress.org site as well.
I need to know the best way to do this – manually and if so how do I upload the blog in pieces that fit the megabite allowance on wordpress.org without getting a FATAL ERROR.
If I did it through your guided tour what exactly would I pay and what will happen.
Thanks and I hope someone answers me soon – I’m completely bewildered.

Howdy!
You might find this guide to splitting XML export files handy:
http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-split-large-xml-files-in-wordpress/You may also want to talk to GoDaddy and find out if they have any ideas as to how to import a larger WordPress file.
Since you have a custom domain, bonjublog.com, you may not need the Site Redirect upgrade if your audience does not access your site at bonjupatten.wordpress.com. Site Redirect will redirect all your traffic from bonjupatten.wordpress.com to your new self-hosted WordPress site, but will not affect bonjublog.com (for this, you need to update domain mapping to your GoDaddy site through your domain registrar).
Read more about the Site Redirect upgrade here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/Guided Transfers cost $129 per blog. You can read more about what is included and how these work here:
