left-aligned image jutting out beyond text edge

    Hello all,
    I’ve been wrapping text around a left-aligned image, and–although the text is wrapping–the image itself is not aligned with the left edge of the text; it goes out too far into the margin. I’m using the free Shine On theme.
    I’ve already looked at the “image alignment” and “wrapping text around images” pages. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Ah, yes. Rightly so. Thanks for letting me know! I was keeping it private until I was happy with how it looked.

    Hi Adam,

    If you look at the theme demo for how the Shine-on them displays left aligned images, then you’ll see that what is happening on your blog is the way the theme was designed. Left aligned pictures do align more to the left and in fact do look as if they are partially placed in the margin of the main content area.

    I see that you have purchased the Premium bundle and that would allow you to edit the CSS to make those left aligned pictures stay within the margin.

    Now that your site is public, I’ll move this thread to the CSS forum where someone with more experience with custom design could help you do that.

    The images expanding outside the edges of the main text column in the Shine On theme is indeed a design choice made by the theme.

    To customize a theme’s intended design, you can purchase the Custom Design upgrade and apply some custom CSS. You can preview an example before purchasing. Here is a snippet you can try out by going to Appearance > Customize > CSS in your blog dashboard:

    .entry-content img.alignright,
.entry-content .wp-caption.alignright {
	margin-right: 0;
}
.entry-content img.alignleft,
.entry-content .wp-caption.alignleft {
	margin-left: 0;
}
