Legacy Themes

The quotes below are from here

    https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/proportional-fonts-in-syntax-highlighter-code/

Our legacy themes are listed only if you click the “Show all themes” button, and those are themes that pre-date the launch of our block editor. They are compatible with blocks, but may not support some settings (such as wide block alignments) but generally work well with the new editor.

When I look on the themes page the free themes only show a few free options before the show all themes button are those all free themes that are not legacy?

But if you want to future-proof your site as much as possible, I recommend the newer block-native themes instead of the legacy themes listed under the “Show all themes” button.

I am wanting to understand where the free themes are that are future proof and if I am not understanding the legacy themes to please explain to me.

    Thanks

  • Hi there!

Yes, this is correct. The newer themes created with the new editor block in mind are those that will appear before the “Show all themes” button.
Here you can see a screenshot.

It doesn’t mean the rest of the themes will not work well, but they may lack some settings.
