Legal Question About My Blog Posts

Hi, I have a weird question: Is it illegal to take screenshots of comments on a company’s social media page and add them as images on my blog posts? I know that’s kind of a weird concern, but I figured that I might find the answer on this forum.

Here’s an example of a weekly blog post in question: http://twomenchew.com/2014/04/23/this-week-in-subway-facebook-comments-423/

If I’m creeping too far into an “illegal” (AKA potential lawsuits) area, I’ll just stop posting this series of content. Thanks for any help you can give me!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t have an answer for you. Another Volunteer may answer prior to Staff but I tagged the thread so it will not fall through the cracks and escape attention. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

It is not illegal per se. They might attempt to assert copyright, but if you covered it as a NEWS story, rather than personal attack on the commenter, I believe you should be fine, particularly now that FB allows us to embed posts and comments in other platforms.
