Lenscap Theme

Hello, I need to know how to add my blog posts to the bottom of the first page of this theme and to have posts only under certain categories show on the menu pages. For instance right now I have the posts gallery window at the top of the Home page displaying four posts. This is fine. The posts on the bottom of the page are about 11 of my blog posts and some of them are showing repeat in the top gallery and the gallery at the bottom of the page that says ‘ Browse Categories’. I don’t want the same posts that are in the top gallery showing in the blog list. I don’t want them to repeat. I want all of these three sections to show different posts. Secondly, the menu of categories at the top of the page will show categories such as Beauty , Travel, Fashion, Relationships. When people click on these pages I want only travel posts to show or Beauty posts. They will then click on the posts they want to read and it will show on and individual posts page. Lastly, my featured photos on the posts are too small. How to change the size to fit the top of the page so I don’t have to show the same picture underneath the featured posts. It also needs to be centered. How do I do all of these things? Thanks for your help and I look forward to your reply.

    Hi,

The posts on the bottom of the page are about 11 of my blog posts and some of them are showing repeat in the top gallery and the gallery at the bottom of the page that says ‘ Browse Categories’. I don’t want the same posts that are in the top gallery showing in the blog list. I don’t want them to repeat. I want all of these three sections to show different posts.

The featured content posts are the four latest posts with the featured content tag. Below that is the blog stream, which necessarily includes all posts, displayed in reverse-chronological order. So if your featured content posts are among the recent posts displayed on the front page, then there will be repetition. The way to avoid repetition on the front page, if your posts per page setting is 11, for example, would be to add the featured content tag to none of the last 11 posts.

The section labeled “Browse Categories” is a special feature on the Lenscap theme called the Footer Category Menu. See the “Browse More Content, Instantly” section of the Lenscap theme guide regarding this menu. That section says:

The Footer Category Menu lets visitors quickly browse the four latest posts from each category in your menu.

So, in this case, you will not be able to avoid repetition of posts displayed the blog stream on the front page if you assign categories to posts, and will only avoid repetition in the featured content section by marking none of the last four posts in any category with a featured content tag.

Secondly, the menu of categories at the top of the page will show categories such as Beauty , Travel, Fashion, Relationships. When people click on these pages I want only travel posts to show or Beauty posts. They will then click on the posts they want to read and it will show on and individual posts page.

Your custom menu includes such links to category pages that behave as you’ve described.

Lastly, my featured photos on the posts are too small. How to change the size to fit the top of the page so I don’t have to show the same picture underneath the featured posts. It also needs to be centered.

The featured images on your posts are of insufficient width in every case I’ve checked. The Quick Specs section of the Lenscap theme guide says: “Featured Images are 1100 [pixels] wide.” That means that the file images used to create featured images should be at least 1100 pixels wide. (However, in every case I’ve checked on the Lenscap demo posts, the featured images are created from images of 1400 pixels width, which are cropped to 1024 pixels.)

(Correction) The last part should have looked like this:
