less a blog more a website?
-
I am creating a website to showcase my work for potential clients. I don’t want a blog, but I was advised that creating my site on WordPress would be the best way to do this. However, I am finding that most of the templates make the site LOOK like a blog, with each blurb I insert identified as something posted on a particular day. I just want a home page with introductory copy and then several category pages that describe and show examples of a certain type of work. Do I need to find particular themes that support this, or do I need to customize my site? I did the lynda.com WordPress course to prepare for this, but I am still not sure how to proceed. Will I be able to work with a WordPress template and have my site NOT look like or function like a blog? Any advice is greatly appreciated….

The lynda.com tutorials are great, but deal mostly with WordPress.org

And if you do decide that WordPress.com is the way you want to go, you may also want to have a look at http://learn.wordpress.com/
