Let Us Disable Comments on Pages
-
We have the ability to turn off the ability to leave comments on specific posts, why not give us the same ability for pages though?
I have a page attracting ~60 spam comments a day from spam-bots, which isn’t going to get any comments from legitimate users, and this is just a hassle, and the infrastructure is already there.

That ability already exists. You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.

You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules

Ok, thanks! Seems “Discussion” under “Screen Options” is enabled by default for posts, but disabled by default for pages.

Hm, I did notice another thing then, if I enable “Discussion”, the “Enable likes and shares” at the bottom of the page disappears, even if that is still enabled at “Screen Options” – seems they only let two options appear at that section at the bottom, even if more are needed.
