I want a button on my blog that readers can click on that will enroll them as followers. Then they can give me their email and they will be notified whenever there are new posts on my blog.

People who already have a WordPress.com account can follow you by clicking the “Follow” button that appears at the bottom right of your website and your posts will appear in their reader. For those who don’t have a WordPress.com account and click the button, they can input their email.
If you wish to add a “Follow” via your widget, you can do that following the instructions provided at https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/.
You can also create an extra external follow button utilizing third party websites that create these for you. You can find more information about this at https://en.support.wordpress.com/follow-button/.
