Let’s Encrypt certificate expiration notice

  • Unknown's avatar

I just received an automated email with the title:

‘Let’s Encrypt certificate expiration notice for domain ‘consentbands.com’ (and 1 more)’

(The ‘1 more’ is simply http://www.consentbands.com.)

This is a domain hosted on WordPress.com. However, I developed it on my own server. I *think* this is just a warning that the certificate from my old server is about to expire, so its expiration won’t affect the current site on WordPress.com. But I want to be sure. Could someone confirm or correct this?

    Thanks!

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi there,

From what I can see your SSL is being managed on our end. We do use Let’s Encrypt to power our SSL certificate system, but we don’t send emails such as the one you’ve described.

It sounds like it’s safe to ignore. Everything looks good with your domain and SSL is being added by us automatically, as it is for all sites hosted on our WordPress.com Managed Hosting.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks! I’ll comment in this thread if I have any problems after the alleged expiration date.
