Letting users in and out of private blog
-
I have a private writing blog. Users commit to write for 6 weeks. They cycle in and out. how can i change, not DELETE, someone on the the TEAM -user – without having to delete and resend invite? There used to be an inactive status choice.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi merbird!
I took a look at the User Roles support page, https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/. It describes the different types of access for each User Role type.
Would changing the user’s role to Viewer work? That way they can still read and comment on the blog, but then they can’t submit content. Is that what you wanted?
Take a look at this subsection of the support page for instructions on changing the User Role:

Thanks! I can change the roles and that is a great idea. I’d prefer for those not in the group to not even be able to view tho! So the writing of those commited to write and give feedback that 6 weeks is Private.

From what I know, I think if you really want to block out writers from viewing content after the 6 weeks without deleting them, it will require that you upgrade to a Business Plan.
A Business Plan will allow you to upload custom plugins, including ones made by third parties, like User Blocker.
If anyone else has another answer, I would be happy to hear about it!

thanks again! I actually have a paid for word press site that may have that feature. it seemed so complicated so i started this free one to practice with and then the group all came in and here we are. I will go over to the other site – if i can even get in – and see what i have there.
