Libretto Theme not displaying properly in Safari
-
I have had reports from several users that all or part of the first line of my posts are being cut off by Safari. It looks fine on other browsers as far as I know. I suspect that it has to do with the
<p class ="emphasis">tag. The emphasized initial cap shows up, but the rest of the line does not display.
Here is a post where the problem shows up in Safari:
Any help with this appreciated–Thanks

Hi,
I did not encounter the issue you describe when visiting the post http://thetracksidephotographer.com/2017/05/04/twenty-two-hundred-miles/ with the latest Safari browser. It looks the same with Safari as it does with Firefox.

I neglected to mention that this is occurring on Mac or IOs. Did you look at it in Safari for Windows? Here is a link to what one user sent me that shows the problem on his IPhone.
If you are not seeing it on Safari for Mac, then maybe it is a version issue?
Thanks

You’re welcome.
Did you look at it in Safari for Windows?
Yes I did. Thanks for the additional information and the screen shot. I’ll tag the topic for staff attention. Please wait for staff to respond.

Hi eddfuller,
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve notified the developers.
Once we have something back from them, we’ll let you know via this thread.

Just want to touch base and see if there has been any progress on this issue. Libretto is such a beautiful theme it is a shame that it is crippled on some platforms.

Hi eddfuller,
There aren’t any changes yet, but the developers are aware of it. It’s a bit tricky to pin down because it works fine in some instances but not in others. As soon as they have a fix though, it will be automatically updated, and we’ll reply here as well.

FYI, a user just reported that the problem is showing up in Windows 10 with Chrome as well. There seems to be an issue with the CSS ::first-line selector on certain platforms.
-
Thanks for that information. I’ve added it to the report for the developers to look into.

Hello eddfuller and issuesandtissuesblog,
We’ve tracked down the cause of the visual issue you’ve reported and have deployed a fix – the first line of text should be appearing in all versions of Safari now.
eddfuller – I was unable to recreate the issue in Windows 10 with Chrome, so I’m not sure if this fix took care of the problem there, too. Please let us know if this user still cannot see the first line of text, and we can investigate further – thanks!

Great — Thanks so much–I really appreciate your help! The theme update came in earlier today, I have applied it to my site and everything looks good. If I hear of any issues, I will let you know. Thanks again–Edd
