Like and Commnet Counters for WordPress

Hi,
I am working on a WordPress project and one of the requirements is to add a Like Button and Comments counter. Every post is supposed to have a Like button and the blog page will display the like count and comments count for each post. I have seen a couple plugins for Like buttons but most of them seem to tie into Facebook. In my case it needs to be standalone and not tie into another service. Can anyone recommend any good plugins to achieve this functionality?

Here at WordPress.com comments are enabled on every post and page by default and we already have a like button we can enable but I don’t think your are referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog. It sounds to me like you have either a local install of WordPress.org software or a web hosted WordPress.org software install. We don’t provide support for those here at all.

Can anyone recommend any good plugins to achieve this functionality?
FTP access and plugins are only for VIP bloggers http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/ or for those with WordPress.ORG installs.
There is no FTP access to our free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot install plugins. If you must have plugins then you have to hire a web host and set up your own WordPress.org install. Read the comparison here please > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

In reference to the blog linked to your username which is a free hosted WordPress>COM blog there is no project involved here.
Comments are enabled by default.
This page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.

If in fact you are referring to a local install of WordPress.ORG software or a web hosted WordPress.ORG site then you are posting to the wrong support forum. We can’t help you here. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.org bloggers.
