My ‘like’ button doesn’t work, hasn’t for two-three weeks. Also, my notifications won’t show on my main page, but they do work on my stats page.

Can you please tell us the URL of the site you’re working on?
Does the like button not work for you when you click it on other people’s blog posts, or are your readers reporting that it isn’t working for them on your site?

Do you mean the notifications drop down in the black admin bar, when viewing your site, isn’t working? But it’s working in the blue admin bar in the stats area?
Please check if clearing your browser cache makes any difference to that:

The like button does not work on my own site. When I click it, I see a white drop down box flash in the upper left corner. It goes away instantly.
Yes, I mean the notification bell in the black admin bar does not work on my main page. A box drops down, but the little circle that indicates it’s loading just never stops. It does work on the blue admin bar on the stats area.
Clearing my browser cache did not fix the problem.

Does the same issue happen if you log into your site using a different browser?
Are you using any browser extentions? If so, can you test if disabling them fixes the issue?

I tried both Bing and Yahoo, with the same results.
I disabled all extensions, refreshed my browser and my WP sites. No change. Also disabled all apps, still no change.

The like button is working for me on your posts. Take a look at this screen shot that I captured from the site: https://d.pr/i/KfYw4h
You would need to be signed in to your WordPress.com account in order to view and like a post. Same with other users. Do you know if you’re signed in?

People can like my posts, but I cannot like theirs. And yes, I am signed in. I’ve checked it multiple times. And if that were the problem, then the notifications wouldn’t work on my stats page, would they? Notifications don’t work on my main page, but they do on my stats page.

First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I have updated Chrome. Problem not solved.
I have tried three different browsers: Yahoo, Bing, and Safari. No change.
I have cleared cache and all cookies. Twice. Yesterday and today. No change.
I disabled all extensions and add-ons. No change.
I usually use Chrome, version. 85.0.4183.102 (Official Build) (64-bit).

Hmm, could you also make sure that third-party cookies are enabled on your browser? This article will help you with that.

Okay, I enabled all cookies. I had blocked third party cookies. Then I tried using my like button on someone else’s post, and it worked. And so does the notification bell, at least on this page. And after I refreshed the site, it also works on both my blog sites. THANK YOU!!
I would like to recommend that Chrome let its users know that bad things can happen if we block third party cookies :). I’ll see if I can let them know.
I’m hoping the problem is solved. Again, thank you so much.
