Like Button

Hello ~ I’m trying to figure something out about the like button and thought maybe someone might know the answer.

I’m using the WordPress Twenty-Ten theme. On my home page/archives it allows people to click the like button for all my posts without having to click on the actual post itself. The trouble I’m having is spam bloggers coming over and clicking the like button for dozens of my posts at a time. I’ve been trying to find a way to change it so the like button only shows if they click on the actual article/post, but I can’t find one. If there is a way, please let me know. Otherwise, I’ll presume it’s the way this theme is set up and I can’t change it.

    Thanks,
    Lori

You can control the length of the entry sent out on your RSS feed here > Settings > Reading. Choose the “summary” setting for your RSS feed or the “full text”.

That does not affect the length of the post displayed on the front page or main page for posts on the blog. To create excerpts there we can split content by inserting “the more tag” http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

You can disable “Sharing” on the same page:
Add to each article in your feed:
    Categories
    Tags
    Comment count
    Sharing

Changes may not appear until you create a new post or your news reader refreshes.

We all are. See here for example and note there are many such threads.

Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com or Gravatar account who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as in email and the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. It’s only when a visitor click into the site that a page view stat is created.

I’ve been trying to find a way to change it so the like button only shows if they click on the actual article/post, but I can’t find one.
