"Like" button for comments

Hello Awesome WP Staff!
A cool conversation developed regarding a blogger’s response to multiple comments toward one post/page. In essence, it’s awkward and space inefficient to reply to ever comment, especially basic complimentary comments. However, it’s proper etiquette to acknowledge them and demonstrate appreciation.
So the thought of a “Like/Thank You” button for comments came up. I’m sure it’s been considered by WP staff and maybe in the works, so I simply wanted to say it’s a great idea :)
Thank you again for all your hard work and commitment toward making WP THE place to blog – I LOVE it!!!
Christopher

WP.com blogs already have that: Like and Thank You — it’s called Ratings. If you don’t have that enabled you can do so from your blog’s dashboard. Ratings go one up from Facebook’s Like, it even comes with Dislike (thumbs down).

I checked it out. Unless I’m missing something, all I found was the star or thumbs up/down options.
To be honest, I’m not a fan of that for comments. Why should a thumbs down or one star even be an option for someone who left a comment? Why should I subject my commentators to that kind of scrutiny? It’s overly qualitative versus singularly affirming and appreciative such as a “Like” or Thank You button.
Definitely not a fan…
