"like" button for non-wordpress users
-
Am I right in that my friends can only hit the “like” button if they log onto WordPress? So, I’ve spent a whole lot of time on a blog that I thought was universal, but is really just a closed community?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, of course it’s rue that like any other place with a like button, Facebook for example, one has to register a username account to be able to use it. Know that comments are gold and likes are not.

The advent of the like button meant the sounding of the slow death knell for comments. Sadly, the majority of us would rather be button clicking monkeys than to take the time and make the effort to compose a meaningful and valuable comment that adds to information and expands the knowledge base and contributes to community building. https://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2013/10/02/crafting-quality-blog-comments/
Worse still is the fact that we cannot remove the likes of those like button spammers, who are insincere and click the like button only to garner a traffic flow back to their own, usually monetized and usually commercial sites.

Thanks for your answer timethief. After I got over my friends’ complaining that they don’t want to have to “sign in” anywhere to “like” or comment on my blog, I realized that I posted my ire too quickly.
It just felt weird at first, that only WordPress people could like and comment. I was thinking, did I accidentally join a cult and I don’t even like Kool-aid?
With overnight consideration, I see that I am enjoying this community anyway. So what’s a few less “likes”?
Thanks again for keeping your cool with this dweeb.
Sandy
