Like Buttons

Just updated my WP and JetPack … now my ‘like’ button just says ‘loading’ … but doesn’t. Btw … I went behind the scenes to Settings, checked out Sharing, and the WordPress.com Likes are ‘on’ for all posts. Same with Jetpack sharing … it’s on ‘allow.’ Help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The most likely cause is another plugin that’s in conflict with Jetpack. Do you have any other sharing plugins active on your site?
Please try disabling all plugins except Jetpack and see if that helps. Then re-enable them one at a time to find the one that’s causing the conflict.
For more help with this, you can contact Jetpack support here:

Apologies for my late reply. I’ll definitely give your idea a try tomorrow. After I posted my question I discovered other’s with the same problem. I tried the suggestions I found, one of which was to install the WP desktop application. So I’m assuming I’ll have to disable everything on both.
And thank you for the link … I’ll look at that tomorrow too.

The WordPress desktop app is just the WordPress.com websites wrapped inside an app. Anything you do on WordPress.com, will automatically sync with what’s in the app.
But if this is a problem with a plugin conflict it needs to be fixed on your site itself, not on WordPress.com. Jetpack allows you to manage your site through WordPress.com, but we do not control your site, as its files are stored on the servers of a completely different company.

Kokkieh thank you … I’m just getting back to this problem this morning. I’ve disabled all the plug ins I could find except JetPack … but it’s still doing the “loading” thing with no sign of a Like button. Sigh … Tried a different browser, not difference. I’ll follow your advice and try contacting JetPack support.

@loisbryan thank you. They’ll likely be able to help more with this. You might also try disconnecting and reconnecting Jetpack to see whether that helps. Good luck!

Thanks, Supernovia. I’m hesitant to try anything else. As I said above, I deactivated the other buttons but got nervous about the new cookie thing, Cookie Consent, so reactivated it. It came back for Firefox but not For Safari. Sent a note in to support to the cookie people about that … but haven’t heard anything back yet.
I hate updating!!!!!
So frustrating.

@loisbryan for that, actually, try clearing the cookies from Safari. You’ll see the note come back :)
It’s probably just closed because you accepted the agreement. Once you accept, we give you a cookie — that cookie will stay in your browser for so many days so we don’t show the banner again. If you delete the cookies it’ll come back for you.
