Like & Follow disappeared after importing and few other issues
-
Hi everyone, it’s my first post here.
I’ve just started a new blog, but seem to have encountered a problem. After setting up my new site, the wp.com and wp.org seem to not be properly connected. You can see new posts when log in to .com, but:
a) the gravatar on my new webpage is not working (had to use a plugin to go around, it was looking just like I have not set it up at all, but I’ve changed it in like 3-4 places with no luck). It’s not a biggie, cause I’ve fixed it more or less
b) I cannot seem to find a “like” button for WP, nor the “follow” button. Thought it’s just my view, but posted a new article and had no likes, no new follows at all (and it’s pretty unusual to get nothing really). Cannot seem to find it when visiting from another device.
c) when visiting wp.com profile it shows 2 gravatars for some reason, and says I don’t allow visitors to read the full article.
If you can please help. Spent countless hours trying to figure those out, but I give up.
Thanks everyone,
PavThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Pav,
Welcome to the forum =)
Are you encountering these problems on your pavfla.com site? If so, you’ll get better help over at the WordPress.org forum, since this site is a self hosted WordPress.org site (https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/).
On WordPress.com sites, it’s quite easy to insert both a Gravatar image and “like” and “follow” buttons. To insert a “follow” button and a Gravatar image, you’d go to the wp-admin panel, and from there click Appearance > Widgets. Find the widgets called Follow Button and either the Gravatar or Gravatar Profile widget, and drag them up to the widget areas in the top, right corner of your screen.
To adjust how your “likes” are displayed, check out this helpful support article:

the problem is I’ve already started a thread there and no one answered :-(
Thanks for your help, jjberg83, but unfortunately that does not work for me. Even through wp.com I can indeed manage sharing buttons, but there’s no option for reblog & like (as your link suggested), and in every individual post under Sharing there’s just 1 option: “show sharing buttons”. The “show like buttons” is non existent. Like suddenly people can’t like my post, or follow it. I don’t have a follow widget, so downloaded it, and it does work, but just asks for an e-mail subscription, not the word press one. There seem to be no plugin for the standard WP follow button… It’s really bizarre :-(

On your WordPress.com site, the “like” options should be at the bottom of the screen when you’re at Appearance > Sharing. Please see the image below for how it looks:
https://cloudup.com/c3J5Lb1Q_h5I also have a self hosted WordPress.org site, and it’s connected to WordPress.com with the Jetpack plugin. But I also have trouble inserting a WP-like button…

Hi jjberg83,
Unfortunately there’s no such options in my settings. I can see you started following my blog. Appreciate that :-) but how did you do it? I thought there is no way to do so!

I logged into WordPress.com, went to the Reader, clicked the Manage button next to Followed sites, and pasted in your url in the field at the top (see screenshot below). Once I did, a follow button will appear. This is how I follow sites in the Reader that are not WordPress.com sites.

You have social media sharing and comments enabled on your blog posts. The reason you don´t have the Follow, Like and Reblog is probably because this site is self hosted and those options don´t seem to be available there. When you visited my blog, that was a site hosted by WordPress.com, so those options is available for me.
Do you have a WordPress.com account?
There might be ways to fix this, but I´m no WordPress.org expert, so let´s hope somebody will answer your thread on the org-forum. However, if you would like to move your blog from .org to a .com to get these options for your blog, check out this support article ( but first create a WordPress.com account if you don´t already have one):
