"like this" button missing

The “like this” button is missing at the end of all my posts. The box is checked in Settings/Sharing. Searched Support, read the article. If I click on Comment, then the “like this” appears. I want to know who “likes this”!

    What can I do?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. The WordPress.com Like button only appears when you view the post individually. It does not appear on the homepage. This is normal and that’s how it’s always worked.

Only the other sharing buttons (such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.) can show on the homepage if you tick the appropriate box under Settings > Sharing.

I am new to blogging. Is the homepage the first page to load showing my most recent posting? I did click back to older posts and the “like this” was still not under the posting. Again, on every posting page, if I click “Comment”, then the like this appears.

The homepage is the main blog page where all your posts are displayed.

The behaviour you are describing is how it’s supposed to work.

Then why do I visit other wordpress blogs and under the posting is a “Like This” with pictures? I just checked on my husband’s computer and my blog does not have the top bar that has the follow, “like” star, reblog. And there was not a “like this” at the bottom of my post under the social links.

As raincoaster and I have told you, it’s only when viewing posts individually.
If you’re still not convinced, kindly show us an example of another WordPress.com blog where you see that.

I just checked on my husband’s computer and my blog does not have the top bar that has the follow, “like” star, reblog.

That bar appears only whenever one is logged into WordPress.com and visiting another WordPress.com blog. In other words, if I were to go on your blog right now, I’d see it.

On your husband’s computer, if you go to http://wordpress.com, sign in, and THEN go back to your blog, you’ll see the bar you are talking about.

That STILL won’t change the fact that you cannot “Like” a post from the homepage. You have to be viewing that post individually in order to “Like” it.
