likes but no views?

Just getting started here. Got my first two likes today, which was pretty cool I guess, but at that point in the day, my blog had zero views and zero clicks. Now, at the end of the day, I’ve still got two likes but one view and one viewer. How is this possible? I’m skeptical. Please explain.

Hi there. First, stats aren’t real time, so the views might only register after a couple of hours.
Second, people can read and like your posts directly from the Reader, without actually clicking through to your blog itself. In this case there would be no pageview to register.
Some bloggers also engage in spam-liking: they like multiple posts in the Reader without ever reading those posts, in the hope that the like recipients would visit their blogs to thank them for the likes. I’m not saying these likes were spam-likes, but it happens. As a result I don’t worry much about likes, especially those from bloggers I don’t know.
