likes button not working

  Hm, not really.

  I’d like to try this myself, but I don’t want to scare all of your users by Liking something on your private blog.

  Would you mind publishing a temporary test post or page that you could delete after I Like it?

  Hm, I was able to Like it successfully, so I’m not really sure what’s up.

  Are you running any ad blockers? The can sometimes mistake like and share buttons for ads.

  We’re looking into the ad blockers, but I’m curious if WordPress changed anything around Feb 14, 2013, because that seems to be the last date when the majority of our readers were able the use the “like” button.

  Are the readers logged in to WordPress.com when they Like a post?

  We have recently discovered that Firefox, Chrome, and IE are now treating the Like button’s login window as a pop-up and dismissing it without notice (there is a very tiny notice on Chrome).

  If they aren’t logged in, that might be the problem, and we are working on it.

  Thank you for the continued help. Because our blog is private, all readers have to login first in order to access posts.

  Can you determine any reason that the “like” button works for users who have the administrator role for the blog, when it doesn’t work for users who only have the viewer role?

  Hm, that I am not 100% sure, but we’ll take a look while we’re fixing the other issue with the button.

  Thanks again. Just FYI, one user who cannot use the Like button says she is not aware that she is running an “ad” blocker, and even when she added *.wordpress.com to the list of approved sites for pop ups, it still did not solve the *Like* issue for http://acsncic.wordpress.com.

  However, she was able to Like a post on a different, public WordPress blog: http://acspressroom.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/jamabreast2013/

  I was having the problem of clicking ‘like’ and it not registering on the target blog and the ‘allow third party cookies’ solution fixed it. Thanks!
