"Likes" don't show up in stats

I’m noticing that people are liking my posts, but then they don’t show up in my stats. For example, I know someone from another country has liked a particular post, but they don’t appear under stats.

Why don’t likes show up on my blog, when readers like my post? Today I found likes on my wordpress.com reader page.

I want feed back to show up on my post. Up untill today I didn’t even know anyone had given me feed back as a like on my blog. I have a place on the page to make a comment. No one has commented yet. Now I wonder if that isn’t working either. I have seen on other blogs that when you hit like on a post your avatar shows . I would like my readers likes to my post to be shown on my blog as well.
