How can I get likes for my posts that aren’t just other wordpress subscribers?
Or if possible, likes that are linked to Facebook accounts as well.Thank you for your help.

Hi Margaret,
The Like buttons shown here is WordPress.com specific:
Readers will need to have a WordPress.com account in order to like your post there.
However, the Facebook widget above should reflect all shares across the Facebook platform. If you would like, you can change the styling of the buttons here:
https://yarradene.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=sharing
The “Official Button” style will display the “Like” Facebook button as opposed to just the icon. More on the style of sharing icons here:

Hi Jeremey,
I noticed that if I change the button to a Facebook “official button”, then the only option when the user clicks it is that it is a Facebook like (rather than a share). Does this mean that if it’s an official button, it is a “like” and if it is not an official button it is a “share”? How could the user Facebook share the article if I use the official button?
Thank you,

Hi Margaret,
If a visitor clicks the official “Like” button from your article, it will still display in the News Feed that they liked the article. You can see an example in my personal activity log here:
It’s a bit different than a “share” in that the person sharing the link doesn’t get to add any commentary to the post. The difference is described a bit here:

Both the “like” and “share” would count towards your social sharing metric on your stats page. There isn’t an easy way to display both the “like” and “share” buttons at the same time. The only method would be to display one and create the other using the “Add a Service” option to create your own sharing button. A user broke down the process here:
