  why do people need to be logged in and have a password to like a post?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  WordPress.com Likes show likes from WordPress.com users, so people need to be logged in so that the system can verify that they are indeed registered users and display the correct gravatar in the grid of users who liked the post. It’s same as on Facebook, for example: only logged in Facebook users can like an update on Facebook.
