Liking Post by Non-WordPress.com People
-
Why is it necessary to be a WordPress.com ‘member’ to ‘Like’ a posting on a blog?
What of non-WordPress.com people; how can they ‘Like’ a posting, a page, etc. without being a WordPress.com ‘member’ ?
What must I do, as an admin of the website, to allow non-WordPress.com visitors to my website to ‘Like’ pages, posts, etc.? Please help. Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I believe you’re referring to the Like button shown here:
If so, you’re correct; users will need to have a WordPress.com account in order to “Like” your posts using this icon. This is because the “Like” is a WordPress.com social metric, much like a Facebook Like (users need to have a Facebook account to Like your post on Facebook). Currently, it isn’t possible to allow non-WordPress.com users to “Like” your posts on WordPress.com. You can read more about the WordPress.com Like button here:
If you would like, you can customize your Sharing buttons to display a Facebook Like button:
This would allow your users to “Like” your post on Facebook as well (Facebook account required).
Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Thanks for the response. I already have the social media links at the bottom of each page.
Making it mandatory to be a WordPress member/user strikes me as restrictive. Yet, there it is. It is what it is. The sun will rise tomorrow.
Can you help with another problem, or must I open another enquiry (which is not in the WordPress dictionary!) ?
Here it is: how do I get my service’s logo to appear in the spot that is now occupied by the WordPress logo? I have a gravatar (also not in the WordPress dictionary!) for the website.

Hi!
I believe you’re referring to the logo in the tab on your browser. Is that correct? If so, you can change that by setting a Blavatar as explained here:

Let me know if you need anything else!
