Limit commenting to contributors

  I would like to limit the authority to post comments only to people that I select (e.g. by having them register at wordpress.com and designating them as contributors). There is no such option in the Discussion settings. Is there some way around it? I’ve tried “blacklisting” but it doesn’t work. The problem is that I get large numbers of “low quality” comments.

  Put comment moderation on and only approve the comments made by your list of pre-approved people. That’s the only way I know other than making your blog totally private.

  Enable comment moderation so that you can decide which comments are posted.

  You can check the box that says “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” PLUS enable the comment moderation.

  It would be nice if there were an “inverse black list”, i.e. there is moderation, but comments from “trusted” people can go through without it. I hope some wordpress developer is listening.
