Limiting front page posts in puzzle theme
-
I’ve set the Settings>Reading limits to 6 per page, yet the front page continues to show 15 on my site: http://www.explorminate4x.wordpress.com
Why isn’t it working? What can I do to fix that? It’s probably a deal breaker for me with this theme.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This looks like a bug. You currently have your front page settings to show 10 posts at most (see the link below)
https://explorminate4x.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.phpThat setting is being honored on your category and archive pages but not your front page.
I’ll submit a bug report for you and let you know when I hear back.
If you decide you’d rather pick another theme, let me know and I’ll be happy to help you get a refund.

I would rather keep this theme and have the setting work. How long does a bug fix like this take? I’m looking to purchase the $99 upgrade at the end of my two-week trial, but would hope that this particular issue would be fixed in order to feel comfortable doing so.

I can’t offer you a timeline for the fix. Your theme does include a 30 day refund period though, so if this is a deal breaker for you I recommend you wait and see. If it’s still an issue at the beginning of next month I’ll be happy to refund the theme and help you find a new one.

Hi there,
This particular theme has a fixed number of posts (15) to ensure the layout works. It ignores the reading settings.
Cheers,

I mentioned helping you with refunds earlier, so if this news means puzzle won’t work for you let me know.

The answer doesn’t make sense to me. If it’s a fixed number for the front page, but not any other page, how does the layout not work if it’s set to the front page?
It works just fine on the other pages that do follow the reading settings.
I’m familiar enough with CSS to know that that shouldn’t be a problem. What do I need to do/pay to be able to alter the CSS of this theme?

What do I need to do/pay to be able to alter the CSS of this theme?
As a WordPress.com Premium member, you have the ability to add CSS to your site in the customizer. Open the CSS tab in the customizer view and make your changes there. Here’s more on how that works.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-css/
You aren’t able to make changes to the theme file directly on WordPress.com, so if you want to keep your theme, but make more extensive changes, a WordPress powered site hosted elsewhere might be a better fit for you.
