Limiting Number of Related Posts in Expound
-
Hi All:
I have a couple of questions. First, is there a way I can limit the number of Related Posts thumbnails that show up at the bottom of each post? When too many show up it looks messy.
Second, is there a way to switch the .nav-previous and .nav-next text below the Related Posts section? Right now the “previous post” points right and the “next post” points left. I can’t get the alignment and the arrows quite right.
Thanks!

Hi there, the system, unless there has been a change I don’t know about, only shows three related posts below the post content and sharing sections on each post. Do you have a link to a post where there are more than three?
On the next and previous posts, the one on the left is “previous” and takes people to the post dated “older” than the one they are viewing. The one on the right takes them to the post dated “newer” the one they are on. If you think of a horizontal listing of posts, the newest is on the left and older posts would be listed in reverse chronological order to the right of the newest post.
We could add the words older and newer by the arrows with the following CSS.
.nav-next .meta-nav:before { content: "(Older) "; font-weight: bold; font-size: 110%; } .nav-previous .meta-nav:after { content: " (Newer)"; font-weight: bold; font-size: 110%; }See what you think with that.

Thank you! This works. I swear I saw a post where there were 6 thumbnails in the Related Posts area. Everything looks okay now, though.
Thanks again.

You are welcome, and if you do happen to see six, do let us know. It could be a bug, but I’ve seen no other reports of this so far.
