Limiting Posts on Home Page in Hemingway Rewritten

I have setup Hemingway Rewritten as a new theme on my blog, but it currently shows about 7 posts on the home page. I was looking through the .php and .css but wasnt able to find anywhere to limit the amount of posts showing- I have so many images in the posts that it causes all my mobile devices to crash so I’d like to limit it to showing a post or two. At the same time, I’m not sure if its tied to the recent posts widget, which I would like to show about 12 posts. I also tried altering the Settings > Reading menu to drop down the amount of posts shown at a given time but that had no effect.

I was considering trying to create a page which in turn only exists to show the latest two posts, then having it go to that ‘static’ page instead of defaulting to showing the latest posts through the themes options.

What do you guys think? I’d prefer to just set it as a value somewhere in the code.

    Thanks!

Just an idea. If you set the max displayed posts at two at Settings > Reading, but you have 5 sticky posts, then you’ll have seven posts displayed on the front page.

I think I found a work around using the custom post limit plugin- its about 3 years old but seems to be working just fine! I guess it’ll do it until I actually suck it up and learn .php
