Limiting Sales To U.S. Only With Woocommerce

For now I’m just gathering information. My mind is kind of all over the place with what I want to do with my Storenvy store and it’s associated website I have here on wordpress.com

The site I’m referring to is dudecapz.com

That site has grown a little still due to lack of motivatuonto maintain it, and produce new inventory for it.

I’m thinking of scrapping the storenvy store for it at dudecapz.storenvy.com and the dudecapz.com site altogether so that I can just purchase a brand new website under a different brand and domain and see how the Woocommerce thing may be of more benefit to me as I like the idea of having full control over my products andmy store all in one place.

My biggest priority is that I only sell my handmade products to residents within the United States. I do not like dealing with customs or foreign shipping.

So with all of that said, my big question for now is will Woocommerce allow to set my store so that it will only accept orders for U.S. shipping within the 48 contiguous states?

  • Hello there,

Happy to help you with this.

That’s totally possible and this would be done when setting up shipping zones in WooCommerce: https://woocommerce.com/document/setting-up-shipping-zones/

You would only set up the shipping zones, you wish to ship too. I hope this helps.

Yes this is exactly what I want to do.

I have another question regarding Woocommerce. Will any theme work with it, or is it best to use a Woocommerce specific theme? I’m guessing the latter is the best option if I want my store to look like an actual store.

The reason I asked however is because I plan to set up a free site before purchasing a .com for it, that way I can get a specific url for the free version (without all the added numbers the domain selector will add if I just choose the .com first), and also so that I can work on building some necessary pages before actually launching my store. And once I set up the site first to start working on the site, can I see Woocommerce themes in the theme area, or will these only be available after I’ve set up the site with Woocommerce?

Sorry I got carried away with questions.

Generally speaking, most themes will work with WooCommerce these days. That said, personally I’d always suggest opting to using an ecommerce theme as the online store design traits will be there as standard.

It wouldn’t be possible possible to use WooCommerce on a free plan with WordPress.com, the site would nee to be on the business plan.

And once I set up the site first to start working on the site, can I see Woocommerce themes in the theme area, or will these only be available after I’ve set up the site with Woocommerce?

You would be able to search for Ecommerce themes yes. This is what you’re likely to see: https://en-gb.wordpress.org/themes/search/ecommerce/
