Line breaks are being ignored
-
On this page, https://scottandrewhutchins.wordpress.com/2015/03/30/marvel-masterworks/, I have been tracking my Marvel comics reading. In a comment at the end, I started making a chronological list of Marvel titles not yet on the reading list because I wasn’t able to find such a chronological list. With the most recent additions at the bottom, with title debuts in February and March 1997, the line breaks are no longer displaying, so it’s now a giant clump. I don’t understand this at all. When I go in to edit, all the line breaks are there.

Hi there,
You are referring to the comment here, yes? https://scottandrewhutchins.wordpress.com/2015/03/30/marvel-masterworks/#comment-19392
That is quite a long comment, out of curiosity did you happen to paste that from another source like a Word doc, Google doc, email, etc?
Or did you compose the entire comment within the comment box during a single writing session? Thanks for the additional info!

No, it’s not a paste, and it’s been composed gradually and taken a long time. I couldn’t find a list where one could see Marvel Comics series in chronological order of debut, so I had to make it myself from other sources. The problem occurred when I added the February and March 1997 titles. The plan was to eventually have it complete to the present.

Hi there,
Are you using Shift + Enter for line breaks or you simply press Enter?
Also, I don’t recommend using the comments to maintain your reading list. You can simply edit your initial post to create a new one for your reading list.

I’m using shift+enter. Like I said, the line breaks swere there until the latest edit, and are still there when I edit.

Hmm, ok, I do see what you mean at https://scottandrewhutchins.wordpress.com/2015/03/30/marvel-masterworks/#comment-19392

We’ll dig into this and see what we can find, but generally, I’m leaning towards the comment being too long and exceeding an execution limit.
For now, I recommend what my colleague mentioned earlier and simply editing the post, as posts have a significantly higher execution limit, plus they support more formatting options.
If you copy and paste from the comment in the editor into the post’s editor, the formatting will be preserved.
