Line breaks disappear when editing a post

    This is a problem I’ve only noticed since moving from a PC to a Mac, so it might be at my end rather than the WordPress end, but I have found that after writing a post if I need to go back and edit it, all the line breaks I have entered have disappeared. What’s more, I have to edit the HTML to get them back in. That does not solve the problem, though, as the same thing happens if I need to go back into the post. No line breaks are saved. Anyone have any advice?

    try putting the <br> tag in code format.

    Are you using Safari on your Mac?

    wp.com has known issues with Safari and the suggestion is to install Firefox. Can you do this and let us know if it fixes the fault?

    Ta.

    @Sulz
    Tried doing that and it doesn’t seem to help.

    @Cornell
    I am using Safari. I’ll try using Firefox and see what happens.

    It would seem that using Firefox rather than Safari does stop the problem occurring. Is this something that is likely to be fixed or is it something that we’re just going to have to work around permanently?

    I believe it’s a problem with Safari rather than the wp.com app (the rich text editor, an external application called TinyMCE). I also believe it’s something that Safari are aware of and are looking into.

    Whether it will get fixed or not is anyone’s guess!

    The WordPress folks probably already know about the problem and presumably are working to fix it. But just to make sure they don’t forget (they’re awfully busy fixing all those bugs we find), you can report it to them by using the Support form or by email.
