Line breaks that don't appear
-
I’m having a sporadic issue of having posts where 1 or more of the line breaks do not appear on the blog, although they are still there in the Visual screen when I edit the post. When I insert line breaks via the line break command in the Text screen to correct this, all the OTHER line breaks below the point of the first manually-inserted one VANISH, and I have to manually redo all of them… and mind you I routinely have posts of over 3000 words, so this is a REAL hassle.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Blog editors and word processors are not the same and do not work the same way. The web standard is one blank line only, so you cannot add more blank lines by pressing return repeatedly like you would do with a typewriter or in a word processing application. If you want to learn how to format and space your posts and pages see: http://en.support.wordpress.com/writing-and-formatting-poetry/
If you are working in the Visual editor, to get single spacing between paragraphs hold the SHIFT key down and simultaneously click ENTER at the end of the paragraph.
If you are working in the HTML (Text) editor, a single click of ENTER will give you a single-spaced line, and two clicks of ENTER will result in double spaced lines.

P.S. When you create a new post, always make sure the Format tool is set to Paragraph before you start typing. It’s in the Visual editor Row 2 first position “style”. See the illustration here http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2 If you forget to do that then edit the post, highlight all in the Visual editor, select Paragraph from the Format tool, switch editor to Text then switch back to Visual and click Update.

That’s a lot of terrific info, thanks!! :-)
I’m not trying to do anything fancy, though; I’m just typing along and hitting Enter to start a new paragraph. Occasionally, that blank line between paragraphs does not appear on the blog even though it is there in the editor, which is an error… so I do still need official intervention.

I just put up another post, and this issue still exists. I went to that 1st link, which said that adding… I’ll try to chop this up so it won’t turn into html:
&nb sp;
into the html would add a blank line… but what it actually did was SUBTRACT a line break!! {slaps forehead}
So, I went through and added the many line break commands necessary to break up a 4000 word post. Every place I added ONE line in the html, FOUR lines have been added in the Visual area. ?!!

Your post has some unusual code in it. How did you do this bit, for instance:
<div id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1393382285729_7540"> <h3 id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1393382285729_7539">1 Peter 4:12 (NLT)</h3> </div> <div id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1393382285729_7545"><em>12 Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.</em></div> <div></div> <p></p> <div id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1393382285729_7536"> don’t get bent out of shape because life threw you a curve, you had an unexpected challenge; sometimes we face difficulties, not because we’re doing something wrong, but because we’re doing something right.”</div>Are you copy/pasting from anywhere? I suggest, before you do anything else, go to the Settings->Writing page and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML” and save it. That will help prevent HTML errors.

And when you DO copy paste, use the Paste Text button on the advanced toolbar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/styling-individual-posts-and-pages/

The only code I’ve done is the “br” for line breaks; any and all other code is generated by the system.
All Bible verses are pasted in. :-)
“WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML” has always been selected; I just verified that it is still checked.
I don’t know what the advanced toolbar is; the toolbar I have has an option to paste as PLAIN text, which would cost me a great deal of time in re-formating the scripture. Unless WordPress just did a major change, though, the quotes are not a problem; I’ve been pasting verses in for 4 years without this error occurring, and my previous posts, including those with the same sort of code, still look fine.
I periodically have odd problems that seem to be the result of my very old machine not playing well with WordPress; this is probably another instance of that. Thanks for taking so much time to help out!! :-)
