Line or para break in tables gets stripped out

    Hi folks,

I create tables by entering html into the wp.com editor “Text” mode (table/tr/td and so on), and have styled them with CSS (I have the CSS option) and that all works fine.

However, if I try to create two or more paragraphs in a table cell, the paragraph separation is maintained only temporarily, and soon gets stripped out, either during save or load, or perhaps the switch from Visual to Text or back. (Result: The second paragraph gets jammed on to the end of the first, with no line break at all.)

I have tried putting p tags around the two paras, or omitting them completely and just ensuring a blank line in the html. Either works temporarily, but as noted, gets stripped out.

Is there some way to avoid this problem, or is it a bug?

    Hello,

Yes, this is a WordPress bug! If you’re comfortable with technical description, the bug report is available here:

    https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/20943

If you’re not, basically it means that as per 13 days ago, the bug still exists and hasn’t been fixed yet, and is being put in the ‘Future Release’ milestone. So, someday in the future (no fixed plan yet), this will get fixed. But for now, we’re out of luck.
