line spaces keep dissapearing
-
i have a problem posting – when I edit my posts, the line spaces keep dissapearing. whether i use the visual editor or the HTML editor (both, in fact), it keeps deleting my line spaces, and stuff gets scrunched up as a result.
i’ve resorted to putting full stops in the spaces, just so my spaces could be kept – but obviously i’d prefer if the problem was fixed so i wouldn’t have unnecessary full stops on my posts.
please let me know how to fix this.
thanks

Perhaps by putting < / p > (but without the spaces)in between your sentences… Try that, I hope this works for you!

It’s an issue with TinyMCE that’s come up before. Best best would be to use the normal text editor. You can turn off the Rich text editor/ TinyMCE at Dashboard -> Users -> Your Profile -> Uncheck the box at the bottom of the page and Save Changes. You’ll have more and better control over your HTML with the normal editor.

I copy/pasted 10 of my poems in and the spaces were lost and it’s all a mess. I’ll just try another blog place and use this one for pictures if that’s the way it works here.

have you tried the <br> tag? or even better just turn off your rich text editor as drmike suggest. it won’t mess your spacings at all.

Save the post into Notepad or another very basic text editor. I get this problem when I paste from Word or from HTML. Paste in from raw text and add formatting later.

I’m here! 200 Poems is here! I just had removed my poems that had looked so horrible. But I’m not GONE gone.

I’ve pasted in .doc and .rtf. I’ve redone the formatting of the spaces in WordPress’ editing area, but when it is saved and shows up in its final version, that formatting is all over the place again. The lines just aren’t exactly where I need them to be. I don’t know what Notepad is, it isn’t in my lineup of file formats to save things in. How do you turn rtf off? I thought it was a file format.

(1) I’m glad to hear you’re not gone gone.
(2) Everyone who helps out on the forum is a volunteer and we’re spread all over the world so be prepared for time lag with respect to answers and for partial answers too.
(3) Turning off the text rich editor -> dashboard -> users -> your profile -> 3 lines from the top “Personal Options” uncheck the check box for the visual rich editor and click update profile on the bottom right.
(4) Notepad is part of the Windows program. It’s a plain text editor that you can use to write your poems in first and then copy and paste them into the WordPress editor.
(5) Another alternative is to use a free program you can dewnload from the net like Blogdesk. You write in this program and with the click of one button you can upload into your WordPress blog. No need to use those annoying HTML Tags in the WYSIWYG editor. Images can be directly inserted and are automatically uploaded. Even publishing simultaneously to multiple blogs is a matter of a click http://www.blogdesk.org/en/index.htm. -
