line spacing in lovecraft theme

I am creating a blog using the lovecraft theme, which I really like, but I cannot get it to put space in between paragraphs. When using the visual editor, everything looks fine with line spaces between paragraphs, but when I publish it, all of the paragraphs run together like one big block of text. I’ve even tried to put two spaces between paragraphs, but no luck. I really don’t want to have to change the theme, but I will have to if I can’t figure this out! Please help!

I should add that I’m not sure this is a theme-specific problem, as I have previewed other themes and they seem to have the same issue. I’ve also tried using different browsers with no success. I have a Macbook Pro.
