Line spacing issue

    I’ve been having trouble with line spacing in WordPress lately. It seems like the issues started right around the time of the last update. I know spacing has always been strange with WordPress, but it’s worse now. A number of my old posts are now jumbled blobs of text (an example can be found in this post http://www.kimberlyfayereads.com/2014/08/31/in-review-right-kind-of-wrong-finding-fate-3-by-chelsea-fine/.) This post used to have paragraph breaks, but they’ve been removed now. I didn’t do it. I’ve also noticed that, where before you could hit Shift+Enter to get a line break instead of a paragraph break, that doesn’t seem to be possible any longer. It’s super frustrating to have to go in and edit these old posts, plus remember to go into the HTML editor for each new post and make sure I have tags at the beginning of each paragraph, particularly when cutting and pasting something from Word or email.

    When I look through my old posts, it looks like the <p> tag has been stripped out. I… don’t understand why.

    Any suggestions? Anything I might be overlooking in settings? Any way to fix this short of reformatting thousands of blog posts by hand?

    Thanks in advance for any input you can give!

    We provide support only for WordPress.COM hosted blogs and that site is not one of them. It is a WordPress.ORG software install and you are posting to the wrong support forum.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.

    Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
    WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

    Go into “text” when editing and check for odd code formatting.

    Delete the odd code tags. And then reformat as normal.

    The odd code tags with look like <xxxx> BODY OF ACTUAL TEXT <xxxxx> where x can be any sort of code.

    It happens to me sometimes, mostly when I’ve copied a picture directly in with copy/paste instead of uploading, for instance.

    I’m not a coder, I just figured out how to fix my jumbles by experimentation, lol.

    @kavalkade12
    Please do not respond to questions posted by bloggers about sites that are NOT hosted by WordPress.COM. The answers to the same questions can be different depending on the software. Therefore Volunteers always examine where the blog is hosted before they either answer the question (assuming it is a blog hosted by WordPress.COM), or redirect the blogger to the WordPress.ORG support forums.
