line spacing, separating paragraphs
-
I am using the site home page as a calendar of events. Instead of creating a new post, I go in and edit when I want to add or delete an event. I’m having trouble separating my event listings. See draconliine.wordpress.com. When I am in the edit screen, the different listings are separated by at least 2 line spaces, some are 3 line spaces, yet they show up with no space between them on the page after I update. Can someone tell me how to get a line or 2 of blank space to show up on the post?

I believe you will find these posts to be helpful. Space between lines. > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/space-betweeen-lines/

I visited those posts – thank you! – and clicked on some links that brought me to other very helpful info, but I have to confess that I have NO idea what I am supposed to do with the code that is in the boxes on your page. Is the idea that I copy the code and insert it into my text where I want the spacing? Sub-novice here!

The posts I linked are not my own. They are on another volunteer’s blog (Panos). Why not click the comment link on the posts and ask him for help?

Paste this above each heading (after swiching the editor to HTML):
<div style="height:24px;visibility:hidden;">drac</div>
You can change the number to adjust the space.By the way, you’ve got numerous bad html tags in your post, so first go to Settings>Writing, tick the option “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically”, click Save Changes.

Thanks for looking at the site and noting the errors. I will go in and make the changes you suggest. Your willingness to answer newbie questions contributes much toward making wordpress an attractive site for me to use.

@draconline: You’re welcome.
@phlamper – re the links you gave: in the first one, the code is mistyped; should be like that (straight quotes and a semicolon after the em unit):
<br style="height: 4em;" />
In the second, the code is correctly written but unstable: will be stripped out if you switch the editor to visual.
