It appears as if you have the custom design upgrade and had customized the CSS for the previous theme and that is what is killing your site now. CSS is theme specific and if you try to apply the CSS for one theme onto another, it will typically do things like this.
Go to appearance > custom design > CSS, delete all the CSS from the editor window, make sure that “add to existing…” is selected and then click save stylesheet and things should start working for you.
-
Also, never put the entire stylesheet into the CSS edit window. Add only the specific selectors, and the specific declarations that you are adding or changing to the CSS edit window and keep “add to existing…” selected.

Thanks a lot for your prompt help, it worked! you can check it.
Is there a guidebook or resource dedicated to Linen? I’l now start customizing different parts of it and I expect to face some issues.

Since Linen is a Premium theme, you should also have access to the Premium theme support forum from your Dashboard>Appearance and you must be logged in with the username you purchased the theme with. There’a also information on the Theme’s Showcase page http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/linen/

I think there is some documentation on the themes in the premium themes forums.
And you are welcome.
