  how do i ad an additional link next to the home and about section on the top of my page?
  i want to be able to add a “Contact me” section at the top of my page how do i do that?

  See here for creating a Page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ with a contact form on it, http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/ a tab to the page will automatically appear in your menu bar after it’s published.
