    Hello,

I used to have a blog called ‘adviceologie’ and another one that I currently use called ‘lapetitemodeste’.

I wanted to free the URL name of adviceologie so that I can use that name to change ‘lapetitemodeste’
But when I did so and specifically asked to permanently disable adviceologie I did so to be able to use it for another site.

Could you please free the name I need it, ‘adviceologie’ is my business.

    Thank you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

But when I did so and specifically asked to permanently disable adviceologie I did so to be able to use it for another site./blockquote>
Specifically asked whom? Did someone from WordPress.com suggest that you could use the URL on another site? Unfortunately, you may regret deleting that site, because the URL cannot be used again for at least two years after its deletion. The Recycling Blog Addresses (URLs) support page, says:

For the most part, we cannot recycle or reassign site addresses (URLs) which may appear to be abandoned. We respect bloggers’ ownership of their content and therefore will not move or delete a site without its owners consent — no matter how long it has been since their last update.

Sites already deleted by their authors two or more years ago may become available again, if they present no username or other technical conflicts.

    Sorry, I meant to say:

Do you see a deleted site with an address you would like to have? You can try registering a new site with that address here. If it is available, it will be yours.

Fortunately, there is an infinite supply of unused blog addresses, so our policy should not limit your address selection.

I changed the name of my previous blog to free it for my new blog and now I can’t even use it again for my other blog …
    very annoying policy.

Is there a possible way for wordpress to free it for me, both are my sites and both are my content and I consent for adviceologie to be free !!!!

& Thank you for your answer

  • Hi there,

But when I did so and specifically asked to permanently disable adviceologie I did so to be able to use it for another site.

What did you think “permanently disable” meant? That option included a very clear warning that you won’t be able to use that address again. Deleting an address does not free it up. It removes that address and no one, including you, can use it again.

I was able to still stop this deletion before it completed, so you’ll again see that site in your sites list, but if you ever delete that address again it will be completely impossible to get it back.

It’s not possible to change a site’s address to an address that already exists, nor to one that has been deleted. If you want the content on lapetitemodeste.wordpress.com to be on adviceologie.wordpress.com instead, the only way to do that is to move the content manually via exporting and importing.

    Export

    Import

After you’ve moved the content, let me know if you also want to move over your followers and stats. There is no way to move customizations and settings, so those you’ll need to do manually.
