Link a picture with a site
-
I tried to link a picture in my post with a site, so if someone clicks on it, it goes to the site. Somehow even if I change the url to what I want, it goes back to wordpress.com one, not saving my url. How can I solve the problem?
-
If you’re uploading the pic using WordPress, the image is stored there (linking there as well).
I use Photobucket and have had no problems with pics.
Once the PB url is entered into the “add picture” function found on your taskbar (and the photo appears in your post) click the pic again and use the “hyperlink” button for your chosen destination url.

Thank you so much, badsneaker! so there’s no way I can use wordpress to upload the picture and link it with the website, right? I just don’t want to go through another site to do this, so…
-
Yes, there is. People do it all the time. After you insert the image into your blog, click on the image, then click on the icon in the toolbar that looks like chain links linked together. In the dialog box that pops up, put in the URL of the website page you want to link to and then click “insert”. Your image is now linked to the website.

Very frustrating. Now I have a new problem. I uploaded 3 pictures, and I want to link each one of them to different page of this website. Somehow it all goes to the same url. I keep changing the url on each picture, but it all goes to the one url. Help!
-
Oh, I just read your reply, the sacredpath. That’s exactly what I did and it doesn’t work. That’s why I tried to use “copy the image location” thing, and now all the pictures go to one url, not to the each url I want them to go to. I just don’t get it…
-
@SacredPath – I apologize. That is correct. I must have lost it there for a minute. I’ve gotten so used to PB that I “left the building”.
Last thing I want to do here is give someone bad advice.
Thanks for setting me straight. :o)@distinque
Each page has a separate URL which needs to be inserted into the corresponding picture.
Take a deep breath and keep trying. It will work . . . one pic at a time. -
The other way is to go into “code view” (tab adjacent to the “visual” tab. You will see something like the following which is the image and link code
<a href="http://pagelinkhere"><img src="http://imagelinkhere" alt="" title="" /> </a>Paste the URL of the page you want to link to in between the quote marks after the href=”. The link after img src=” is the link to the image. -
Okay, I have no nails to bite off anymore.
@SacredPath. What you said definitely doesn’t work. Maybe I should change the theme of my blog entirely?
@badsneaker, I tried to separate the pictures, giving space between them. Even with that, somehow all the url goes to the one, and one only. If I change one, everything else get changed too.
I think I need a serious help here…

Well, then there is something missing since I do it all the time. Put in the correct link, make sure it is correct, then save the post. Then go back into code view and verify that it is correct. Is it the same? If it changed, then there is something going on.
You can also paste the URL to the image here and also the URL of the page you are trying to link to, and I will create the link for you that you can then paste into your blog.
Is the page you are linking to on your blog, or on another blog? If it’s on another blog, what is the URL of that blog?
-
I just uploaded three pics and hyperlinked all three with no problem.
I’m not sure what you’re doing exactly.
Do the site urls should start with http:// ? (reaching here) -
@Sacredpath, I think you’re right. Something’s going on here. If I post it and come back to take a look at it, it’s back to what it was before, some kind of automatic url address of wordpress. I mean even without posting it and going back and forth, I just click on “save” of the url and if I open it again, it’s gone back to wordpress one again. I don’t think there’s anything else I can do here. I don’t want to make you work on this for me, so thank you so much for your offer, but this is it. Maybe I should not link any picture at all. By the way, this is my blog and the address I want to link the pictures to is my website.
@badsneaker, of course I put “http://” I’m not THAT bad. But, your comment made me laugh. Thank you.

Put the URL of the page you want to link to here. By the way, is it a private blog you are trying to link to ?
-
No, it’s not private. It’s my website. One of the pages I want to link a picture to is “http://www.distinque.com/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage_distinque/product_id,67/category_id,12/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,13/

I just put the following up on my blog with an image from my uploads, and it linked just fine to your website.
One thing I did notice is that when I inserted the image, it added this code in after the page link
rel="attachment wp-att-38"which messed things up when I put in the link you provided above. After inserting the image and linking it, go into code view and delete the rel=”attachment wp-att-38″ or whatever it looks like. This below is what I inserted. You can copy it out and paste it in in code view if you wish and then change the image link after img src”.
<a href="http://www.distinque.com/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage_distinque/product_id,67/category_id,12/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,13/"><img src="http://opposablethumbz.wordpress.com/files/2007/12/image1.jpg" alt="image1.jpg" /></a> -
Thank you, Sacredpath. I’m so tired right now, biting my lips and nails and more. I’ll try it tomorrow and let you know. THANKS A LOT!!!
