Hey, Pat, this may sound silly but I’m wondering if you’re going about it backwards.
Are you editing the “January 2016” page, or the “Key West” post?
You need to start from this link.
http://patandnormtravel.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page
Then click on “January 2016.”
Then once you’re in there, select the text for “Key West” and click the Insert/Edit Link button.
-
What I want to do is to link the Key West post to the “key West” item in the itinerary, so you can access the Key West post by clicking on “Key West” in the itinerary (which happens to be in January 2016). But I want to also link all of the posts to the same location in the itinerary.
-
Right. I understand.
You have to do that by editing the itinerary pages, not the posts.
You’re linking *from* the itinerary pages to the individual posts about the locations, not vice versa.
Does that make sense?
-
-
So when someone goes to any of the itinerary pages and clicks on a location name, it takes them to the post about your visit to that location.
-
Okay, I’ll try to help again. Step by step.
Go to this link.
http://patandnormtravel.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page
Then click on “January 2016.”
That will open up the editor for that month’s itinerary.
Select the text for “Key West” next to Jan 03.
Click on the Insert/Edit Link button in the toolbar above the editing window.
-
Then you should see the Key West post down in the link to existing content.
Once you add that one, you can do the same for Miami, Old Bahama Canal, etc.
Then be sure to click to update the page over in the top right of the sidebar.
-
yes, thank you , it worked. I appreciate you following up and hanging in there with me!!
-
That’s awesome, Pat!
Sorry I didn’t spot the crux of the thing earlier.
I’m enjoying your site, by the way. We don’t get the chance to travel much, so it’s nice to experience vicariously. :)
-
Yes! Success. Thank you for hanging in there and helping me. Pat
