Link & Unlink Button not working
-
I cannot get my link/unlink buttons on the tool bar stopped working tonight. If I highlight text to link, no box appears and the same goes when I try to edit links. I cannot even edit links that I already made. Why is this happening?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ll just forget about it–whenever I use Firefox it messes up my computer. Is there a way I can move my blog somewhere else?
-
Take a look at this: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/ .
Also, if you move to blogger, you have to export things from here, run it through a third-party conversion utility and then import it into blogger.

That doesn’t include images. Images you will have to move over one at a time from here to there.

Oh jeez. Well, thanks for the help. Looks like my blog will be no more. It figures this would happen just when I’m getting a decent amount of traffic.
-
I’ll do that. I just don’t understand why this happened all of a sudden. Wish I was given some warning.

The insert link button is not working properly in IE7/8. We’re working to fix it.
In the mean time, you can either type the link manually using the html editor or use another browser to get around the problem.

As in the other thread, I’m confused why the old system isn’t reintroduced until the bugs are fixed.

I have the same issue this morning – I thought maybe they were changing/upgrading that feature because the page looks very different than it has the last few days. I am able to use the html editor, but I can’t figure out how to set it to open in a new window so I guess I’ll wait for ya’ll to fix the issue! I’m glad to find this thread and know you’re working on it.

Simply switch to the HTML editor, select the anchor text and insert the link. Doing this means you totally avoid using the “new linking feature” that appears in the Visual Editor.
Alternatively you can attempt to learn how the new linking/search feature > http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/11/19/linking-sorting-paging/
-
One other alternative would be to temporarily install Firefox and use that till the issue is resolved. You could then uninstall it or even keep it around just in case.

I suspect that the editor upgrade was done to take care of other issues that cropped up in the last update with errant blank paragraphs showing up in posts especially when the post had images or images with captions. Obviously the updated editor (written by Moxiecode) ended up bringing in some new issues.

@TSP
Have you read this? I’m asking because I think it’s connected to the problems we are experiencing with the Visual editor. http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/11/19/linking-sorting-paging/
