Link and Unlink buttons deactivated?

I’ve been trying to figure out how to add links inside a blog post, but it seems that I can’t use the add link buttons whether in visual or html mode? I’v e even tried manually adding the html code, but once the post has been published the link’s gone as well. Can anybody help me with this issue?

This page informs us of how to create links in Pages and Posts. It’s important to know that you must first select the anchor text that you intend to link to with your mouse, and when you do that then the link and unlink icons become active.
If you still cannot do this then please try some troubleshooting. How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.
