I have been posting in forums, with no luck, trying to figure out how to correctly set up a plugin called ‘theme my login’ for requesting access into a specific site I’m building. The login page has links on the bottom for ‘register’ and ‘lost password’…but those links are broken and redirect back to the login page with the error ‘please log in to continue.’ I’ve tried multiple plugins for this sort of thing and I just can’t figure out how to make sure the site has a secure login functioning correctly. The website is private, but available at luckypistil.org

That looks like a WordPress.org site, which we really can’t help with here.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_vs_WordPress.com
That plugin does have it’s own support page here: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/theme-my-login
